On this day in US Army SF history.....12 June 1988, the first Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) course was initiated at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.
The initial three-week course was designed to test SF candidates physically and psychologically to determine which candidates should advance to the SF Qualification Course. To this day, SFAS remains SF candidates’ first stop and a critical component of their preparation and training.
